In Memory Of Kim Bodell
"Bonz"
Floyd, before custom paint
Trish still recalls their first overnight trip with Kim on the old Sportster. They were going out to Jay Bird's farm on a very cold weekend. Kim insisted that they would do it right, camping outdoors. Kim had borrowed a pup tent but hadn't gotten all the equipment. They used a branch in lieu of a tent pole. Trish recalls learning on that trip that when it's real cold and real dark it's possible to put one's panties on sideways. She didn't notice until the middle of the following morning, and still wonders how she got it wrong.
And no memorial would be complete without a story about riding in the rain. The one remembered here is a Brotherhood run with the About 12 Motorcycle Club. Coming back from Delaware a four-hour ride turned into a nine hour ordeal. Riders had to stop every few miles and pour water out of their boots. Riding over the Bridge had to be accomplished two at a time. Of course it stopped raining as soon as the bridge was traversed. The best part of the journey? Stopping at a Burger King and seeing the long lines of normal people stand aside to make way for the dirty, soaking wet motorcyclists.
